For a while, I myself was unsure of the reasons behind the decision made to dub the city of Tallahassee as the state capital. Many that I spoke with referred to Tallahassee as a city that should belong to Georgia, and others contended that if you travel a few miles south you would finally arrive in Florida. Still the question remained, why Tallahassee?
