In the first attempt to pass the far reaching legislation, Wendy Davis took to the floor and filibustered the bill. Although it delayed the passage of the bill, it was reminiscent of Rand Paul's Senate filibuster. It looked good in the newspapers but at best it was a delaying tactic more than a remedy. Davis has used the noteriety she gained from the filibuster to announce her desire to run for statewide office. She was interviewed on the newest attempt by Republicans to pass the bill. She commented that she and her fellow legislators still had " a few tricks up their sleeves" and that if it did pass, it would immediately face court challenges.
